Food, Glorious Food!

I think I could write an entire novel on how insanely good the food is on this tropical island of paradise. I feel like I’m on vacation all day, everyday. Unfortunately, I am not. I am a post-college grad, who is unemployed (thus far), living with her boyfriend, and most importantly, balling on a budget. The only thing better aside from the perfected taste of these culinary arts here is the price of said arts. Holy cow food is so cheap here. I mean, you really get the bang for your buck!

Allow me to explain: $5 goes a long way. The cost of living is ideal for two post-college grads like Taylor and myself. For example, a Grab (Indonesia’s version Uber or Lyft) is $2-7 for anywhere you would need to go on a day-to-day basis. Breakfast for two is approximately $13 (and I’m talking freshly squeezed orange juice, entrées, and a side of bacon - the whole shabang). Taylor and I had dinner at a nice bistro the other night and the bill was not $80, not $50, not even $35- but only $27! Tonight, I had a hankering for something sweet, so we picked up eight gourmet cookies from DANG! Cookies and ate every single one of them… for $7. Our moped rental is $3 per day for a month, and gas for that moped is $5 for a week and a half’s worth of adventure.

Whoops! I slightly got off track and went on a small tangent there, but I sometimes just can’t help myself! It’s such a good feeling to save a lot money and live your best life at the same time (a feeling only Bali can really give you). Before I start to aimlessly throwing out numbers again, I’m going to stop and let the prices speak for themselves. This upcoming week, I’m going to keep a food diary of what we spend in a week on groceries and going-out meals.
