Always Chasing Summer…

It is finally starting to feel like summer here in Wisconsin (gee, it took long enough). For those of you who are not from this great ole cheese state, we had a crap spring filled with tornadoes, hail, and on/off snow. It would literally be in the mid-60s one day and then suddenly 33°F the next. I know this sounds like irrelevant information, but I swear my little weather report and what I’m about to say is somewhat coherent. I had this realization today…

After Thursday, June 23rd, 2022 i.e. now 7 days away, Taylor and I will always be chasing summer. Just thinking about it fills my heart and soul with this surreal feeling of like, ‘wow, this is currently the life that I’m living.’ I mean think about it:

We will come back for Christmas and see our friends and family, welcoming the new year with lots of smiles and booze. But after the holidays settle down, Taylor and I will be back on the road (or I guess technically, in the air), making our way to a country that is in its summer season. Knowing Taylor’s affinity for South Africa and safaris, I would imagine our first stop will be Cape Town. Maybe we will go to some countries in South America next, but its all up in the air!

After those six months or so are up, we will once again come back, regroup, and continue chasing summer all the way to Europe. If my calculations are correct, we will indeed have a full European summer. One thing is for certain, I will never have to endure another brutal Wisconsin winter (and oh my goodness I am so excited about that)!
